Techno Engineering & Carbon Brush Co. is a trusted supplier of carbon brushes, brush holders, slipring, springs, terminals, and other products for elevator applications. With over three decades of experience, we understand the unique requirements of elevator generators and offer a full line of carbon, graphite, and composite-grade brushes from specific brush plate manufacturers.
One of the most common problems with carbon brushes in elevator applications is dusting. Our brushes are designed to reduce dusting dramatically, ensuring that your equipment runs efficiently with minimal maintenance time required. To reduce dusting, we recommend removing a row of brushes to bring up the current density or changing to a brush made of composite grade, which is a combination of strong, dense, low-friction electrographite grade and low-friction graphite material.
Another issue that can occur with elevator generators is leveling/compounding problems due to inappropriate spring pressure. To avoid this problem, we recommend maintaining spring pressure between 240 and 280 gf/cm2, and ensuring that brushes are at least 80% seated in and pre-radiused for the commutator diameter. The positioning of brushes must be accurately adjusted within the neutral zone, and it is important to always check for any high-resistance connections.
At Techno Engineering & Carbon Brush Co., we believe that there is no magic grade that can guarantee a dustless or frictionless carbon brush. However, we can help you improve brush life and equipment performance by maintaining the recommended spring pressure, current density, commutator, and changeover period for brushes. By following proper maintenance procedures, it is not uncommon to expand brush life to over 12 months.

Trust us to provide high-quality products that will keep your elevator generators running smoothly and efficiently. Contact us today to learn more about our offerings for elevator applications.

Leveling/Compounding  problems are usually occurred due to inappropriate spring pressure. It is recommended to maintaining the spring pressure between 240 and 280 gf/cm2. The brushes need to be at least 80% seated in and pre-radiused for the commutator diameter. Positioning of brushes must be accurately adjusted within the neutral zone. Always check for any high resistance connections.

There is no such magic grade which is often recommended by manufacturers or supplier as “Magic dustless carbon brush grade” or frictionless grade. You can improve brush life and equipment performance by maintaining the recommended spring pressure, current density, commutator, and changeover period for brushes. It is not uncommon to expand brush life to over 12 months by following proper maintenance procedures.
